Pauline O’Brien, RP, CCC-S · she/they
I’m a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, educator, and researcher with 25 years of experience in counselling and psychotherapy. My work brings together clinical experience, education, and a commitment to inspiring social justice in therapy, and clinical supervision.
EDUCATIONDoctor of Education
I hold an Ed.D. in Counselling Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. I am also a full-time professor at Yorkville University. My academic background and teaching inform how I approach clinical practice, supervision, and research.
25 YEARS IN PRACTICELearning across settings.
My experience spans primary health care, family health teams, university settings, shelter-based emergency mental health services, and rural and northern communities.
A perspective shaped by people and place.
Working across these settings has deepened my attention to the relationships, environments, and systems that shape people’s lives. I bring that awareness into conversations about healing, ethical practice, and professional growth.
My approach is trauma focused, anti-oppressive, queer affirming, and neurodivergent affirming. I value curiosity, collaboration, and reflection, making room for both professional knowledge and lived experience.
Based in Hamilton, Ontario, I am also a mother, queer person, and neurodivergent practitioner. My own experiences of coming to know myself inform my commitment to spaces where people can explore who they are with care and respect.
